Fly me to the moon and then back to Ibiza, ta...

Bored with the present day, ebookers.com has decided to spend some time day-dreaming about holidays of the future. The company has compiled a list of five technologies it predicts will have the greatest impact on holiday-makers. Among the more well known emerging technologies, such as 3G and touch screens ebookers also claims to be keeping a close eye on developments in the field of vertical flying. Travellers may one day have the choice of being blasted vertically into space and held there until their destination reaches them as the world rotates. Sounds a long way off, but ebookers said it would be one of the first companies to sell this kind of flight to punters. ebookers said it has "made contact" with a company called Digiscents to see how its virtual odour production technology can be used to enhance the decision making process for potential holiday-makers. While ebookers claims it is talking with various technology companies with a view to adopting relevant technologies in the future, the process is still in an embryonic phase. Jessica Potter, the company's designated futurologist - or marketing manager as she is actually known - said: "We aren't that far along the process. We're checking-out what's going to happen in the future so we are prepared."
