It isn't enough that we have Black Friday and Cyber Monday to stoke the retail economy. Now, a non-profit environmental group is advocating that the Tuesday after Thanksgiving be dedicated to "green" shopping activities. The group, Green America, is calling this proposed new shopping day, Green Tuesday.
But wait, there's more!
Of COURSE Green America is hoping to participate in this newly declared shopping holiday. Its Web site, GreenDeals.org, will therefore be featuring a week's worth of green product specials started on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.
Examples of the stuff that will be offered include self-water systems for indoor and outdoor plants and annual memberships for car-sharing or bicycle-sharing clubs. You can even buy jewelry made from recycled nuclear bomb equipment! (Hmmm?)
There will be approximately 15 to 20 products and related coupons featured on a daily basis between Nov. 29 and Dec. 6. All of the businesses featured on the Web site are from local and national green businesses that have been approved by Green America.
Seriously, if you are genuinely interested in confining your holiday shopping to gifts that either could have a positive impact on the environment OR that might have less of a negative one, you might want to check out this gift guide.
