The interim government in Egypt has said it will repay ISPs whose service was shut down during the political upheaval in January and February.

Egypt will repay operators EGP100m (£10.2m), Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said on Tuesday, according to a Dow Jones report on Total Telecom.

In January, the Egyptian government of Hosni Mubarak ordered major mobile operators in Egypt to stop services across the country, during mass protests against the authorities. Internet service returned in February, before Mubarak stepped down.
