EMC on Tuesday released the VSPEX BLUE, a hyper-converged infrastructure appliance that integrates VMware's EVO: Rail software stack with EMC's management software.
It is the first product to come out of EMC's converged business unit, which joins the VCE Vblock and VSPEX systems.
EMC says the appliance is aimed at simplifying IT configuration, management and maintenance by enabling customers to go from power-on to virtual machine provisioning in less than 15 minutes.
Features of the product include x86 server hardware base, EMC Secure Remote Support, and the VSPEX BLUE Manager software with an included app marketplace.
EMC global sales VP Gregg Ambulos says the appliance will go to market with help from the company's ecosystem of technical partners.
"We are excited bringing the EMC VSPEX BLUE appliance to market solely through this channel, where we can leverage our distributors' global reach and scale to take this highly differentiated product to market," Ambulos said in a statement. "This new approach will provide better growth opportunities for our partners, while continuing to provide innovative, industry-leading solutions to our customers."
