Exclusive: BT reveals ADSL prices

High speed connections using ADSL. How much will it cost?
Written by Jane Wakefield, Contributor

BT exclusively reveals ADSL prices to ZDNet News Thursday.

BT is not planning to sell ADSL direct to consumers but will offer the services wholesale to ISPs. The telco plans to equip 400 exchanges across the UK during the spring of next year with ADSL capacity. This will give six million British households access to broadband services.

The pricing announcement comes days after Oftel's unbundling announcement which requires BT to open up its network and allow other operators to provide high bandwidth services.

Unbundling the local loop is due to be complete by July 2001.

Pricing details will be published on ZDNet UK News at 1pm.
