Exclusive: BT to launch direct Internet access

BT will today announce a service that will give users direct access to the Internet without having to subscribe to an Internet service provider (ISP).
Written by Richard Barry, Contributor

A trial for the service begins in Northern Ireland this month with a planned national launch in September.

According to BT, the service will work on a pay-as-you-go principle which is designed to "grow the Internet". Customers will pay a penny-a-minute additional charge on BT's standard local call rate and if customers use BT's discount schemes further savings can be made.
