For those service providers who have already deployed VoIP solutions in the long distance portion of their networks, Clarent OpenAccess provides a natural extension of their services directly to end users

The software-driven Voice over IP (VOIP) solution enables service providers, including both traditional telecommunications carriers and alternative service providers, to offer traditional and advanced telecommunications services over any communications network, independent of the network type.

The Clarent OpenAccess solution enables service providers to integrate and manage voice and data transmissions over a single network, providing new sources of revenue while reducing capital investments, deployment time, and operating and service costs.

“The deregulation of the region’s telecommunications market offers tremendous growth opportunities but had also led to intense competition among service providers. The Clarent OpenAccess solution enables service providers to offer traditional phone and data services to customers at a lower cost and anticipate and meet the growing demands for innovative communications services,” said Thomas Chu, Clarent’s vice president and general manager, South Asia.

The Clarent OpenAccess solution consists of three principle elements. Softswitch which is a combination of the Clarent Call Manager and the Clarent Command Center, customer premise gateways that connect business and residential users to the converged network as well as trunking gateway for connection telephone voice, fax and modem data calls over the Internet or a TCP/IP Intranet. The Clarent OpenAccess solution is available immediately. Pricing for service providers can range

from US$150 to US$350 per subscriber, depending upon a service provider’s specific needs and configuration.

Clarent is participating at CommunicAsia 2001 — one of Asia's premier telecommunications and IT events — which runs from June 19 to 22 at the Singapore Expo.
