Under the agreement, Denver-based Web developer Astrobyte will be absorbed into the Portland, Ore.-based Extensis. Astrobyte's BeyondPress Internet authoring software, which uses a page-layout metaphor and converts QuarkXPress documents to HTML, will be integrated into Extensis' line of productivity software for electronic publishing.
The two privately held companies said they plan no significant layoffs and will have a staff of approximately 87 people. Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed.
