Facebook has updated Beluga for iOS, an increasingly popular BBM alternative, to version 1.2. The short changelog is below (the second point should not be much of a surprise):
Mute options for alerts (global and per pod)
FB Single Sign-on
People section for "Friends using Beluga"
Clearly this isn't a huge update, and Beluga for Android is still ahead at version 1.66, but the release is still quite significant. Typically, when a large company acquires a startup, development grinds to a standstill. This has been true for all of Palo Alto's previous acquisitions: nothing happens until the new team is integrated into the larger Facebook group, and support is often dropped for previous products.
Facebook acquired Beluga just last week. This week, there's a new version of Beluga for iOS. Facebook wasn't kidding when it said that the Beluga deal was different: it looks like the Android and iOS apps will continue to be fully supported until further notice.
