Football action is intensifying online as well as on the field: Yahoo Sports vs. Fox Sports.

The debut of the Fall football season marks the debut of two new online football promotions for fans: 1) NFL Game Pass, powered by Yahoo Sports and 2) MySpace “Friend” Fox Fantasy Football.

NFL Game Pass on Yahoo Sports

The National Football League is offering international audiences live Webcasts, through Yahoo Sports, of every NFL regular season game. The service is available in Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and Africa, but not in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, U.S. Territories, Bermuda, Antigua or the Bahamas.

The cost for the online subscription is $24.99 per week or $249.99 for the 17-week NFL regular season; Games will be streamed at up to 700 kbps. Each game will be available in archived format up to 24 hours after its conclusion.

NFL Game Pass is being promoted by both the NFL and Yahoo.

MySpace "Play Fox Fantasy Football 2006 Friend" is not being friendly to Yahoo; Its profile gives a competitive diss to Yahoo's Fantasy Football:

Live Scoring and Stats: Fox Sports FREE, Yahoo $$$
Public Scoring and Leagues: Fox Sports FREE, Yahoo Included
Customizable Private Leagues: Fox Sports FREE, Yahoo Included
Expert Analysis and Simulations: Fox Sports FREE, Yahoo Included
Draft Kit: Fox Sports FREE, Yahoo $$
Message Boards: Fox Sports FREE, Yahoo Included
Instant Messenger: Fox Sports FREE, YAhoo Included

The competitive skirmishes between Yahoo and Fox are irrelevant to at least one Fantasy Football fan. Ken, a Yahoo Fantasy Football player and one of "Play Fox Fantasy Football 2006" Friend's friends, has posted a shout out at "Play Fox Fantasy Football 2006" Friend's profile saying:

I will join someones Fox league if you join my yahoo league.
