Five years ago: End is nigh for Pentium Pro

"Demand has gone through the roof for Pentium MMX and we've had strong orders for Pentium II so we're ramping as fast as we can," said an Intel UK spokeswoman.

"Pentium Pro production is declining rapidly. Originally we had it on the roadmap for the rest of the year but such is the interest in new chip that it could go by the end of the third [July-September] quarter.
