Five years ago: Lotus plans Organizer for Notes

Lotus will finally plug the group scheduling hole in Notes with a version of its Organizer PIM that runs under the company's flagship workgroup software
Written by Martin Veitch, Contributor

Code-named Dante, the product will store information in Notes databases that can be replicated, kept secure and managed like any other Notes database. Likely to be called Organizer 97 GS (for Group Scheduler), the product will ship within two months of Notes 4.5 which itself is due to ship before the end of 1996, said Jim Moffat, Lotus communications product marketing manager.

A subset of the Organizer functionality will ship in Notes 4.5 with a calendar that can send alerts of scheduled meetings to the user's mail file. The full Organizer release will add contact database, to-do list, call record and other tools that use Notes as the back-end. Users will also be able to print calendars in 25 formats.
