Friskies creates a trio of iPad games for your cat, screen protectors not included

Via Cat Fishing, Tasty Treasures Hunt and Party Mix-Up!, iPad owners can alternatively swoon and gasp in abject horror as their cats bring claw after claw to their $500 tablets' screens.

As the previous owner of multiple cats, I am very much aware that there exists a small subset of cat owners who really love their cats. But I'm less convinced that people love their animals enough to let their claw-equipped companions furiously paw at their devices.

Apparently Friskes does. The cat food brand has introduced a trio of iPad apps made just for the most precious of household felines. Via Cat Fishing, Tasty Treasures Hunt and Party Mix-Up, iPad owners can alternatively swoon and gasp in sheer horror as their cats bring claw after sharpened claw to their $500 tablets' screens.

But there is a solution. Because the apps are HTML5 based, they can just as easily be used on less expensive, non-Apple-branded tablets. Are cat-branded tablets next? We hope so.

Other developers have also created cat-specific iPad games, of which few deviate from the rather simplistic object-bouncing-around-screen format. Not that your cat will ever notice the difference.
