British Telecom this morning cancelled all customer appointments until further notice due to the UK fuel crisis.

According to reports on BBC Online, telephone installations and repairs will not be carried out because the telco doesn't have enough fuel to transport supplies and equipment to the places they are needed. The company is maintaining a limited service for emergency services, hospitals, doctors, payphones and customers considered at risk. Other clients will not be compensated for any delays experienced, and BT's customer service guarantee has been suspended. A BT spokeswoman confirmed the company has not rescheduled appointments as it anticipates the problem lasting several weeks, at which point the company will have a significant backlog to deal with.
