The half-dozen introductions include a mix of traditional notebooks, tablets, and hybrid portables. The one common thread: They all run the forthcoming Windows 8.1.
The two new Lifebook laptops place an emphasis on high-resolution touchscreens, with the S904 equipped with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution on a 13.3-inch display and the U904 sporting a 3,200 x 1,800 resolution on a 14-inch monitor. As its name hints at, the U904 is an Ultrabook — in fact, Fujitsu claims that it's the world's thinnest 14-inch Ultrabook at just 0.61 inches thick. Both offer new Intel Haswell Core i5 and i7 processors (the U904 using ultra-low-voltage versions) and optional built-in LTE capabilities.
The S904's modular bay can support an optional second battery or hard drive or an optical drive.
The Lifebook T904 and T734 are the company's take on the convertible laptop that is becoming popular with PC manufacturers since the launch of Windows 8. Both feature tiltable, rotating touchscreens that let you switch between notebook and tablet modes, with the T734 including a 1,366 x 768 resolution on a 12.5-inch panel and the T904 using a higher-res 2,560 x 1,440 resolution on a 13.3-inch display.
The T734 comes with a choice of Haswell processors (Core i3, i5, and i7 options), but the T904 CPU choices aren't listed yet, though they may be Haswell chips as well. While the T904 is crafted from aluminum with a magnesium lid, the T734 has a MIL-STD tested chassis and, like the S904, includes the modular bay option for add-ons.
Finally, there are a pair of Stylistic tablets that are distinguished by screen size and processor choice. The Q584 is smaller at 10.1 inches, though it packs 2,56 0x 1,600 resolution into that display, and will make use of Intel's new. On the other hand, the Q704 has a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution on a 12.5-inch screen and is powered by beefier Haswell Core i5 and i7 processors. It is also "semi-rugged" in Fujitsu's terms, meaning it is waterproof and dustproof and has a MIL-STD tested body.
Note that all of the new Fujitsu portables can be configured with Windows 7 instead of Windows 8.1, save for the Stylistic 584.
No pricing details have been released about any of the new models, but the Lifebook U904 will be available in the middle of this month, with the Lifebook S904 and the Stylistic Q584 due next month. You'll have to wait until December for the Stylistic Q704 and then another month further for the Lifebook T904 and T734.
