in brief Fujitsu today announced the extension of a RailCorp ICT contract it first won around three years ago.

The two-year extension, which was signed on 23 December 2009, will continue Fujitsu's provision of managed services to RailCorp's desktop support, service desk, server management and datacentres.

The contract was first signed on 8 August 2006, with Fujitsu believed to have beaten out other ICT heavyweights including IBM, CSC Australia and Unisys to the deal. Over those three years, Fujitsu said it had updated RailCorp's hardware, enhanced information security and lowered ICT costs.

A Fujitsu spokesperson was unable to comment on the value of the new contract.
