Fusion Garage seems to have gotten the hint that cheap sells. Which is why the company is dropping the price of the Wi-Fi version its upcoming Grid 10 tablet $200 from $499 to $299. The Wi-Fi + 3G version is getting a similar drop from $599 to $399.
Fusion Garage CEO Chandra Rathakrishnan dropped the news in a blog post on the company's website, noting that previously ongoing negotiations with manufacturers prevented Fusion Garage from announcing the device at $299. "The important thing, however, is that we have created a new price-performance segment of the tablet market," Rathakrishnan noted. And that's a big deal - at least until Amazon releases its own tablet and plays a similar game pricing its tablet at sub-iPad levels.
With the announcement of the price cut, however, comes news that the Grid 10 will be delayed from September 15th to October 1st. Fusion Garage cites changes to the Adobe Flash Player approval process as reason for the delay and was quick to say that the delay wasn't indicative of any larger issues.
