General Electric is gearing up to roll out its new WattStation electric car chargers designed by Yves Behar, which look absolutely stunning on the sidewalk.

The GE WattStation looks simple in both design and use. Drivers with electric cars can pull up to the plug-in stations and get a full battery charge within four to eight hours for a 24 kWh battery.

Interestingly, rather than helping out current electric vehicle owners, the GE WattStation is intended to "accelerate the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles." Making the station's design futuristic and beautiful was a good start.

GE is planning to go global with the WattStation in 2011, but a special at-home version should be available some time this year.
