Gen-i has today said that it plans to increase its client-support operations in Australia, upping the number of its employees by 30 per cent in the country.

"We are expanding Gen-i's Australian team of 200 employees by 30 per cent over the next 18 months, focusing investment and growth in four key practice areas — network and security, collaboration, end-user computing and cloud and virtualisation," Paul Wilson, Gen-i managing director Australia, said in a statement.

He said that in the last year, all of the company's Australasian clients have renewed agreements for IT network and service management, looking to reduce their IT complexity.

"With employees now expecting to be able to bring their own devices into the workplace, corporate IT departments are coming under increased pressure to accommodate wide diversity in the way IT is being consumed and deployed, with systems complexity often outpacing in-house skills," he said.

"Gen-i continues to invest in on-the-ground expertise in Australia, to support the demand we are seeing from clients for sophisticated collaboration solutions that span these complex environments."

Gen-i has Australian offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. It is a subsidiary of Telecom New Zealand.
