Global next generation voice products market up 40% in Q1 2005

Worldwide next generation voice product revenue totaled $493 mln in Q1 2005, down 8% from Q4 2004 but up 40% between Q1 2004 and Q1 2005, and is forecast to grow to $5.8 bln in 2008, according to Infonetics Research.

Worldwide next generation voice product revenue totaled $493 mln in Q1 2005, down 8% from Q4 2004 but up 40% between Q1 2004 and Q1 2005, and is forecast to grow to $5.8 bln in 2008, according to Infonetics Research. Worldwide softswitch revenue is up 4% from Q4 2004 and 63% from Q1 2004. Nortel is the worldwide revenue market share leader in the softswitch market. Siemens is #2 for worldwide softswitch revenue. Italtel is #3 worldwide but #1 in EMEA after nearly doubling softswitch revenue share in EMEA in Q1 2005. Trunk media gateways topped $200 mln and high-density media gateways represent 78% of all trunk media gateway revenue. The geographic breakdown for total service provider next gen voice equipment: 45% North America, 27% EMEA, 21% Asia Pacific, and 7% CALA.
