Global PC shipments growth in Q1 2005: IDC - 10.9%, Gartner - 10.3%

Global PC shipments rose 10.9% to 46.1 mln in Q1 2005, about 1% above forecast, IDC said. Gartner said shipments rose 10.3% to 50.4 mln. Dell ended Q1 2005 with 18.9% of the market, up from 18.5% in Q1 2004, according to IDC. Gartner pegged Dell's market share at 16.9%. According to IDC, HP ended Q1 2005 with a 15.4% market share. HP had 13.9% of the market in Q1 2005, up from 13.8% in Q1 2004, Gartner said.
