It was promised long ago, but today they finally released their "operational testing" version of YouTube's copyright filter. They have been testing the extremely complicated technology with media partners such as Disney, Time Warner and CBS.

There are no clear details as to how content creators would gain access to this tool -- but as far as end users are concerned, nothing will likely change as there are very few submitted copyrighted samples in the database at present. However, as time goes on, users who either intentionally or unintentionally upload samples of video with copyrighted content will likely experience problems in the future.
