In a just-posted interview with Computerworld's Juan Carlos Perez, Google product manager Nathan Stoll seems to indicate that news links from Google-owned YouTube will likely be integrated with Google News.
"Any plans to add a video component to Google News," Perez asked Stoll, who works on the aforementioned Google News.
"We don't want to preannounce any features but our Google News philosophy is to give users access to all the perspectives on a news story," Stoll replied. "To the extent that a lot of those are in video and becoming available online, we'd certainly love to make those perspectives available and easily discoverable.
And now for the blog byte:
"With the YouTube team, working hard, it's certainly an area we'd like to make progress in," emphasized Stoll.
Stoll added that "because they'd like to get added traffic to their video content... "lots of publishers have asked Google about video plans for Google News. "There's certainly a need out there."
Well, when Google senses a need, they tend to make things happen.
