Google Slides gain Chromecast, AirPlay streaming for presentations

Don't bother fiddling with wires to show off your presentation. Instead, try streaming to a Chromecast or AirPlay device with the newest version of Google Slides.

It just got a little cheaper and perhaps a little easier to share the latest presentation in your office. Google added support for both Chromecast and AirPlay devices to its Google Slides app for Android and iOS.

Aside from the simple wireless sharing feature, the updated Slides app turns into a remote control for your presentation, shows speaker notes that don't appear on the big screen and acts as a timer so you can keep your presentation moving along.

Large enterprises using Microsoft Office will surely pass on this but for smaller companies or project groups, the feature addition is a low-cost way to share a presentation inexpensively. Google sells its Chromecast for $35, although you can often find it online for less, while an Apple TV for AirPlay compatibility costs $69.
