Google has unveiled the third major version of its Online Commerce Search product, a service for e-retailers.
In a blog post published on Tuesday, company software engineer Tianyu Wen said Google Online Commerce Search (GCS) 3.0 was designed to "create an even more interactive and engaging experience for shoppers and retailers".
According to Wen, the new version of GCS incorporates search-as-you-type, to speed up the search process. It also lets retailers show their customers whether a product is available at a nearby store, and show shoppers recommendations based on what others have viewed and bought. Enhanced merchandising tools are also included, so retailers can set query-based landing pages and product promotions.
