Government doings: water, climate

China wants to reduce its water use. How? More efficient irrigation.

China wants to reduce its water use. How? More efficient irrigation. In California they're dealing with the drought by cutting back water supplies. In Silicon Valley the techies will find themselves with half a normal water supply this summer. Bet you'll see some more VC interest now in water recycling. And 80% of California's water use is for agricultural irrigation. Bet they'll be looking at more efficient methods there as well. The U.S. government may create a national Climate Service. Presumably this agency would reside within the existing NOAA. NOAA already contains the Weather Service and resides within the larger Department of Commerce. Congressional leaders appear to be ready to propose a national push toward more renewable energy and action on global warming. Expect very little support from the Republican side of the aisle.
