Harris Interactive drops spamming lawsuit

Lawsuit against Microsoft, Qwest Communications International, America Online and other ISPs dropped
Written by Ben Charny, Contributor

And now there are none. Major polling firm Harris Interactive has dropped its lawsuit against Microsoft, Qwest Communications International, America Online and other ISPs it accused of unfairly blocking its email. Along with the ISPs, Harris also sued the Mail Abuse Prevention System, which put Harris on its "black hole" list of spammers. Many of the ISPs named in the suit subscribe to the list. MAPS did not comment immediately.

Harris said many of the ISPs unblocked the email traffic after "discussions" about the issue with company executives. Many of the ISPs, including AOL and Microsoft, had already been dismissed from the case after the companies agreed to let Harris email go through. Bellsouth.net was dropped from the lawsuit, but claims it was a technical glitch that blocked the mail.
