Health appoints new CIO

The Department of Health and Ageing has announced the appointment of former Australian Taxation Office business solutions manager Paul Madden as its new chief information and knowledge officer.

The Department of Health and Ageing has announced the appointment of former Australian Taxation Office business solutions manager Paul Madden as its new chief information and knowledge officer.

The appointment was announced by department secretary Jane Halton in an email to staff on Friday.

"I am pleased to announce the outcome of the recent Chief Information and Knowledge Officer … recruitment process. As a result of this process, Mr Paul Madden has been promoted to this position," Halton said in the email provided to ZDNet Australia. "Paul has a wealth of highly developed information technology and organisational knowledge, as well as strategic advisory and leadership experience in large organisations."

Madden previously oversaw much of the ATO's Standard Business Reporting scheme and its whole of government strategies and projects.

Madden will start his role on 6 December.
