Over at Skype Journal, (not affiliated with Skype), Stu Henshall posts his list of his five favorite Skype API-enabled products. For the most part, this is stuff you can easily add to Skype to make it more robust.

First, he explains the API's wrapper- an ActiveX “layer” around the Skype API which is designed to make it simpler for COM-client development environments (VB, .NET, etc.) to communicate with Skype.

Stu likes:

Pamela-Systems Pro- A call-recorder, Podcast and answering machine configuration utility. Costs around $20.50.

Video41M- A free video-call tool.

Jyve Web Tools-A free, but a bit of a code-intense solution to manage your Skype call forwarding, presence info indicators, plus your chat and text messages.

Jybe Collaboration Tool- No, not "Jyve," but "Jybe." A free utility that lets you share Microsoft Office documents while you are in chat, video or even voice calls.

MiTunes- This free program mutes your iTunes if you have a Skype call coming in. Useful for those of us who are at our PC listening to music while we work- but who are always at the ready for incoming Skype calls.
