Enterprise storage firm HGST has released a new family of PCIe flash-storage cards for boosting performance of data intensive applications.
The new FlashMAX III PCIe accelerators deliver up to double the price/performance of the previous generation of cards, according to HGST.
The FlashMAX III family is capable of up to 540,000 Random Read IOPS (4K) and up to 200,000 Mixed Sustained Random IOPS (70:30 read:write) from a single half-height, half-length PCIe SSD.
Enterprise-targeted extras such as 2M hours MTBF and includes a five-year limited warranty are also included.
HGST also announced its ServerCache software, which manages SSD caching to accelerate performance of existing storage infrastructure.
The software can create an SSD cache of the most frequently used data to deliver up to a ten times improvement in performance.
It works with a large variety of block-based storage and runs on any server application hosted on either a Storage Area Network or Direct Attached Storage system running Windows Server or Linux.
HGST's pitches the new products as accelerating workloads on databases, SQL servers, data warehouses and video post-production applications.
FlashMAX III will be available in the third quarter of this year. ServerCache is available now for a free 30-day live trial download and for purchase at $995 per physical server.
