Hitachi America announced at the Consumer Electronics Show that it will have a DVD-RAM camcorder on retail shelves by the end of January.

The new device, the DZ-MV100A, will be the first product to record video images on a digital versatile disc. But until the price of the media and the camcorder comes down, Gartner Dataquest analyst Mary Craig believes consumer demand will be low. Full story to follow. -- Richard Shim, ZDNet News
