HostDime gets started on flagship Florida data center

Security for the facility includes a planned fleet of camera drones that will provide monitoring of the external perimeter security.

Finding its current data center operating at almost full capacity, Orlando-based international data center provider HostDime will begin construction of its new flagship data center when it completes the purchase of the land it selected by the end of 2015.

The new, seven story facility will feature three floors of data center space in addition to office space for all of HostDime's current 130 employees. Taking a boutique approach to the facility itself, there will also be executive suites on-site that include bed and bath so that clients can minimize expenses when visiting the site as well as easy 24/7 access to their collocated equipment.

The designed plans, from local architectural firm Baker Barrios are targeted at creating a world class meeting facility, along with the data center space, equipped to hold large meetings and technology conferences on-site. Being located in Florida, the design will be Category 5 hurricane resistant, to aid in providing maximum uptime. Security for the facility includes a planned fleet of camera drones that will provide monitoring of the external perimeter security.

The data center itself will have 10 MW of capacity in an N+1 plus configuration, with 8 MW of backup generators on-site. Solar panels will be roof mounted and provide additional power for the facility. The goal is to provide 8 MW of fully redundant power as well as the ability to run at 80 percent load for up to a week strictly on backup generators and locally stored fuel.

Carrier neutral and with dark fiber available HostDime looks to be the most connected facility in the region,
