A tweet from Mark Webb, a PR for Dixons, has confirmed that from 'later today' the company will be selling HP TouchPads for £89 for the 16GB and £115 for the 32GB models. Currys and PC World will be doing so from Tuesday morning. He also said that existing buyers who had bought the tablet at full price would receive a refund.
This follows some discontent among would-be bargain hunters, who'd noted that US chain Best Buy was selling 16GB Touchpads for $99 ($60) while the UK retail price remained above £300. In Australia, the Harvey Norman chain was reported to have sold out its stock of 4800 units in an hour after putting its 16GB models on sale at AU$89 (£56)
Meanwhile, a group calling itself Touchdroid has said it will port Android to the HP hardware.
