HTC One delayed until end of March for UK

HTC's next flagship handset, the HTC One, will not arrive until the end of March for customers that have pre-ordered one.

HTC's new flagship handset, the HTC One, will not reach retailers' shelves in the UK until the end of March.

The company confirmed that the handset, which had been due to go on sale on Friday 15 March in the UK, will now not arrive until the end of the month.

"We will start fulfilling pre-orders by the end of March in certain markets and will roll out product to more markets as we approach April," a spokeswoman told ZDNet in a statement.

HTC did not say the reason for the delay. The handset's release has also been put back until April in Singapore, the company confirmed to CNET Asia last week.

The device, which has a quad-core 1.7GHz processor and four-megapixel UltraPixel camera sensor, will face stiff competition when it does arrive in the UK.

In addition to contending with big name launches announced at Mobile World Congress, the handset will also go up against the Samsung Galaxy S4 , due to be officially announced on Thursday.
