IBM claims new chip making breakthrough

IBM will today announce that it has conquered an ancient and arcane problem to help make faster semiconductors, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal this morning.

The Journal says Big Blue has worked out how to use copper rather than aluminium in chip manufacturing. In the past, nobody had figured out how to use copper -- a better conductor of electricity than aluminium
