But shareholders have less to celebrate...

IBM has sold its 1,000th zSeries 900, the mainframe the computer giant introduced to the market in December last year. The 1,000th zSeries is expected to be shipped today to Boscov, a US company that operates 34 department stores, IBM said in a statement. IBM also said that sales of mainframes have grown at least 10 per cent for the last three quarters compared to the same period a year ago. When the markets closed in the US on Friday IBM shares had dropped $2.90 to $90.50.
