IBM plans to revamp its whole ThinkPad portable PC range, which is now set to include the first Pentium II notebooks.

Included in the plans is a new ThinkPad range, called the 600 series, which will combine the slim size of the current 560 range with features currently only found only in high end ThinkPads. The 600 will come with a choice of 12.1-inch or 13.3-inch screens, as well as features like Ultra Bay technology to allow connectivity with CD-ROM drives.

From this Spring, all existing ThinkPad ranges will carry a Pentium II option, and some models will have a high capacity 8.1Gb hard disk option as well.
