Internet service provider iiNet has upgraded its "bliink" broadband plans following an announcement of moves to roll out its own DSL broadband infrastructure.

Starting July 12, some iiNet plans will have an additional 6 to 18 gigabytes added to existing quotas, while some plans will have no set limits. However, iiNet said a small proportion of very heavy users may be subjected to "traffic shaping" during peak periods.

iiNet has recently completed its three month customer pilot and is now preparing to start its initial rollout in 32 exchanges across Australia for a total of 11,000 ports. iiNet said they are expecting to connect half of their customers in their own network by next year.

The ISP also emphasised that they will no longer be participating in Telstra's "fast-churn" process from July 12 as part of the process of moving ADSL customers to their own network.
