IMSI ships Web accelerator software

IMSI, best known for its huge-selling TurboCAD program, has released a software package designed to speed Internet access.

NetAccelerator (about £30 inc. VAT on the street) speeds access by up to a factor of five by using modem idle time to load pages in the background. Although it is not the first such product on the market, IMSI says the software is unique in being able to cache both the text and graphics of a Web page's links.

A 30-day free trial version of the product is available at IMSI's Web site.

NetAccelerator supports both Netscape Navigator 3.0 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 and higher versions of the browsers.

The product also folds in a copy of Symantec's Internet FastFind search tool and Anawave's Gravity LT Newsreader newsgroup software.
