In Q1 2005 198 software companies received $1.1 bln of venture money

198 software industry companies raised $1.1 bln in Q1 2005, representing the largest single industry category. Total VC investments for Q1 2005 totaled $4.6 bln and, although that figure was down slightly from previous periods, it was in line with historical norms, according to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Thomson Venture Economics and National Venture Capital Association.
