Intel buys SySDSoft for LTE 4G tech

The chipmaker has acquired Egypt-based software company SySDSoft, with a view to building 4G LTE platforms

Intel has acquired SySDSoft, an Egypt-based software company that builds IP systems and RF/analogue circuits for mobile platforms.

Intel says the move will strengthen its strategy to build 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) platforms. SySDSoft and approximately 100 of the company's electrical engineers and computer scientists will join Intel's Intel Mobile Communications subsidiary.

The acquisition supports Intel's efforts to expand a wireless product portfolio as the company enters what Dr Hermann Eul, president of Intel Mobile Communications, called "an era of multi-communication broadband solutions".
