Intel Corp. kicked off its fall Intel Developer Forum with a demonstration of a 2GHz Pentium 4 chip.

During the morning keynote of Albert Yu, senior vice president and general manager of Intel's Microprocessor Products Group, several Pentium 4 demonstrations were shown, including a 1.4GHz and a 1.5GHz chip. The Pentium 4 demo showed the chip running at 1.5GHz, then scaling up in clock speed to 2GHz. Intel did not specify whether special cooling was used to reach that speed. The Pentium 4 is due this fall, at 1.4GHz, according to Intel. Full story. -- John G. Spooner, ZDNet News
