Intel's Smart Video Recorder III unifies TV standards
Intel's latest version of its Smart Video Recorder puts an end to an old headache by handling PAL, SECAM and NTSC TV broadcast formats in a single hardware/software kit.
Available in the US since November last year but just shipping here now, the £130 Smart Video Recorder III solves the problems caused by the existence of differing standards in different countries.
Based around a PCI capture card, the kit uses Intel's Indeo software codec with the advantage that quality and speed of video playback scales with processor performance, including MMX optimisation.
