Network sells Apple handset for the first time today
More than 50,000 iPhones have been pre-ordered online by Vodafone customers for delivery today - the first day the device goes on sale on the network.
The figure exceeds mobile operator Orange's first-day iPhone sales, which totalled more than 30,000, when it launched the device in November.

The iPhone 3G and 3G S are now available on four networks - a far cry from the handset's 2007 launch when the smartphone was only available on O2.
Apple terminated its two-year exclusivity deal with O2 back in September, when Orange and Vodafone announced they too were to carry the iPhone.
The three operators were later joined by MVNO Tesco Mobile which started selling the device in December.
The iPhone is also sold by mobile retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones4u.
