IRS expects more than 50% of tax returns to be e-filed

Americans filed 62 mln electronic returns in 2004. This year IRS expects over half of all individual returns to be e-filed. During the filing season, IRS.gov Web site averages more than 1 mln visits a day. More than 3 mln returns were prepared using Free File programs through March 2, an increase from 2.15 mln returns for the same period in 2004, according to IRS figures.
