Creative Commons is an interesting concept that very few people understand.
Here's a very bullish write up on CC that appeared in The Star newspaper recently.
And here's an article I wrote which offers an alternative view. It's not a contrarian view. I acknowledge that CC can be useful... just not always necessary.
In a nutshell, CC is an alternative to existing copyright laws. Copyright extends "all rights reserved" to creative works. CC extends "some rights reserved."
It's particularly useful for creative people to share their work with others, yet retain some measure of control over the work. Not full control but some control.
