IDC expects spending on IT services worldwide to reach $423.8 bln in 2005, reflecting yearly growth of 5.7%. The largest market opportunities reside in banking, discrete manufacturing, and government. Software spending in the US is expected to reach $106 bln in 2005, reflecting yearly growth of 6.6% from 2004 to 2005. The biggest software buyers will be services, discrete manufacturing, and the consumer/home market. The US IT services market will reach $180 bln in 2005, reflecting year-over-year growth of 5%. The largest market opportunities reside in banking, discrete manufacturing, and government. The US PC market will reach $49 bln in 2005. The growth in this market is due to the strong spending from the consumer/home sector, which accounts for almost one third of the US PC market.
