Tokyo, Feb 18 (Asia Pulse) - The National Police Agency said Thursday that it will form a special unit to deal with Web security in the wake of a string of hacker attacks on government Web sites.

The new unit will dedicate itself to observing and responding to threats from hackers and cyberterrorists, the agency said in its electronic security guidelines. The police agency is already rolling out a system to investigate high-tech crimes and it will continue to bolster efforts in that area. The agency plans to dispatch technology experts to the National Infrastructure Protection Center, which is run by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation. It also intends to have local police officers receive training at computer systems firms.
