2015? (Spit take.)
The new head of Microsoft's open source effort, senior director of platform strategy Sam Ramji, now says that the company will have a coherent open source strategy by 2015?
Jinkies, even John McCain now says he can get us out of Iraq by 2013. Did anyone out there think a Republican could get us out of Iraq before Microsoft put together an open source strategy? (Yes, you can buy the t-shirt here, from emerchandise.com.)
It's easy to see why Matt Asay appears so sanguine about Ramji's promotion. Ramji's latest blog post is called "managing toward open." As in heading in that general direction. Second star to the left and straight on 'til morning.
In his post, Ramji calls the decision to deliver automated management through System Center across heterogenous environments a "great day." Great for Microsoft maybe. For the rest of the world, not that big a deal.
