LG announces G2 with 5.2 inch display, minimal bezel, and buttons on the back

I wasn't expecting too much from the G2 announcement, but it looks like LG is pushing display size while minimizing the overall phone size.

After checking out recent LG devices, like the Optimus G Pro , my opinion of their devices changed and I have been looking for ways to add one to my collection. LG just announced the new G2 that will be coming to multiple US carriers, including T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. I think it is important for vendors to launch their flagship phones on multiple carriers, come on Nokia, as we have seen from HTC, Samsung, and Apple in the last couple of years.

There is only a 2.65 mm bezel on the sides of the G2's large 5.2 inch display, which look great in photos. I wonder how that will effect holding the device in your hand and look forward to trying one out. There are NO side buttons, they are actually on the back, so the minimal side bezel may not be an issue.

The LG G2 is an Android 4.2.2 device with LG custom software experiences. Key specifications include:

It is definitely a high end Android smartphone and given the performance I saw in the Optimus G Pro, I imagine the G2 will fly. It is interesting to read the press release and see what they have been doing with energy efficiency. It sounds like I should be able to easily go a full day with the G2.

I've been following the press event and like some of the experience features I am hearing, including the double tap on the display to turn it on that I love on my Nokia Lumia 1020 and Nokia N9, the high quality audio output, and the optical image stabilization in the camera.
